Salty Mutts was inspired by a life shaped by dogs, beach days, and the kind of bond only dog people truly understand.

Founder Melissa grew up surrounded by salty air, sandy paws, and dogs with bigger-than-life personalities. Her rescue dog Makai, once shy and unsure, found his spark among a crew of beach-loving pups, proving that the right environment can bring out the best in a dog.

Later, Melissa’s father, a veteran, adopted Logan, a rescue dog who became his PTSD service dog. Their connection became an important reminder of the comfort, loyalty, and healing dogs bring into our lives.

Today, Copper, Melissa’s Mini Australian Shepherd and resident chaos coordinator, carries that spirit forward. He’s playful, spirited, a little dramatic, and exactly the kind of dog Salty Mutts was made for.
